Hello Soul Seasoners! Teresa here to share this glimpse inside our first cruise vacation as a family. It was a Carnival Cruise that sailed out of the port of Los Angeles with high hopes, a touch of seasickness, and a whole lot of laughter.
Me, Michael, and our son, a thrill-seeking six-year-old at the time, embarked on this voyage. We were bursting with excitement, ready to explore the wonders of the open sea. You see, we were fairly young at the time and newly married and while Michael and I hadn't been on many trips together, this journey marked our very first cruise as a family. And oh, what an adventure it would turn out to be!
But as fate would have it, the seas had a mischievous twinkle in their eye, and me, yours truly, fell prey to the notorious curse of seasickness almost as soon as we set sail (take your sea sickness medication or put your wrist bands on BEFORE your cruise starts). Imagine this: me, looking like I just kissed a frog and hanging onto the railings for dear life, while Michael bravely tried to keep our little buddy entertained as the waves rocked us.
Ah, our son, bless his adventurous soul, was the real star of this story. Completely unaware of his mom's struggles, he roamed the ship with the energy of a kid on a mission. He explored every inch of our floating home, from the water slides to the arcade, like a little explorer taking on the high seas.
As the days drifted by, my sea legs eventually found their footing, allowing us to partake in the onboard festivities with newfound gusto. We cheered at the nightly shows, indulged in the endless buffet delights, and reveled in the simple joy of spending quality time together as a family.
But the real magic happened when we reached our port destinations. Exploring the sun-kissed shores of Mexico, we discovered a world of wonders that left us awestruck at every turn. From snorkeling in crystal-clear waters to sampling exotic cuisine, each adventure was a treasure trove of unforgettable memories.
As we said goodbye to our floating home and stepped back onto solid ground, sun-kissed and slightly wobbly from our sea-faring escapades, Michael and I just couldn't help but be amazed at the journey we'd been on together. Sure, it had its rocky moments (quite literally, in my case), but it was those moments of chaos and laughter that made it all the more special.
So here's to our first cruise as a family. A voyage filled with laughter, love, and a touch of seasickness. And as we set our sights on future adventures, we do so with the knowledge that the best journeys are the ones we embark upon together. Fair winds and following seas, my fellow adventurers, and may your travels be as unforgettable as ours.
